📣 Welcome our next to LotD’s member spotlight! 📣 This spotlight is on Phil. Phil has helped to run our website, old forums (if you remember those!) and anything techy related that has comes up – for the past 10+ years! It seems like Phil’s experience with Darkfall remind me of another game we played recently 🤔 😂
How long have you been in LotD?
I joined LotD to play Darkfall, originally released in the EU on 22 January 2009.
I have to thank Valor for introducing my small group of players to LotD since I’ve been around for over a decade now.
What games are you playing right now?
Sadly, I am not playing many games right now. DOTA2 still has me addicted, and I think about returning to new expansion releases for WoW and FFXIV.
What is your all-time favorite game?
Darkfall, hands down. I have not encountered a skill-based MMO like it yet.
I wouldn’t be in LotD without that game.
What do you like most about LotD?
I was immediately drawn to the well-organized and structured leadership team. If the guild decides to promote a game, typically an MMO, they put a lot of effort into ensuring we are successful and have fun.
Furthermore, leadership encourages people to balance real life with gaming. I’ve entered the phase of life where I prioritize building my career and family; LotD allows me to stick around and be annoying.
When do you have the best time doing in games? i.e. PvE, PvP, sieges, small matches, etc.
PvP and sieges are my favorites, but games rarely get it right.
Favorite gaming memory?
When Darkfall was released, the game had bugs. One such bug was a major desync where some players were essentially invisible. Unbeknownst to us at the time, we captured the first player-owned fortress on the island we had practiced for while walking past competing guild scouts. The PvP memories that resulted were great.
Are you a dog or cat person?
I can genuinely say both; I have a cat and a dog.
However, if you make me pick one, my dog travels with me across Canada and wins. I can’t take my cat with me.
